Magis: The Magical Adventure (Walkthrough)

Chapter 1

The game starts as the player arrives at the school of Wizardria and meets Robin, who is another student at the school, in the courtyard. He welcomes the player and instructs them to get familiar with the school and the other students.

In the courtyard the player gets to speak with Bernhart who is located near the entrance to the common room and Tirlittan who can be found on the top right section of the courtyard.

Common room

  • Find the entrance to the students’ common room in the upper left section of the courtyard.
  • Return to Robin.

Basics of Magis

  • Find your wand on the table in the middle of the common room and return to Ursula.

Lost Temper

  • Go to Faewood through the gate located on the left side of the courtyard. Follow the castle wall to the right and you will find the wand.
  • Return to Bernhart near the door to the common room.

Mystery of the well

  • The well can be found on the right side of the courtyard next to the stairs.
  • Find Troll’s cave in Faewood. Following the stone path, turn right onto the brown path and follow it to the cave.
  • Get help to levitate the rock. Return along the brown path back onto the stone path. Follow the stone path until you find Fairy.
  • Return to Troll’s cave.
  • Troll’s quest: Frog fright.
  • Once you have talked to Troll, return to Bernhart in the courtyard.

Frog fright

  • Once you have talked to Troll, return to the stone path following the brown path. Continue on the path past Fairy until you find the Wise Tree.
  • Return to Troll.
  • Bernhart’s quest: Mystery of the well.

  • Find Tirlittan’s hat in the courtyard. It is located on a raised section in the bottom left section. Ascend the stairs and press the spell button to open the gate.
  • Return to Tirlittan in the top right section of the courtyard.

The Wise Tree

  • Find the Wise Tree in Faewood. Follow the stone path to find them.
  • Return to Tirlittan.

Something new

  • Return to the common room to find Rosie.
  • Go to the classroom through the other wooden door in the courtyard.
  • Find the spell book near the top corner of the classroom, which is accessible through the middle door.
  • Talk to Ursula or Robin close to the spell book, until they instruct you to return to Rosie.
  • Return to Tirlittan in the courtyard.

Fairy of Faewood

  • Enter Faewood through the gate on the left side of the courtyard. Follow the stone path until you find Fairy.
  • Return to the courtyard following the stone path back. You can find Robin in the classroom.

Chapter 2

Detectives assemble

  • Enter the common room and speak with Rosie.
  • Speak with Tirlittan near the entrance to the classroom in the courtyard.
  • Speak with Harold near the entrance to Faewood in the courtyard.

Wand in splinters

  • Enter Faewood through the gate, follow the stone path and speak with Fairy.
  • Find the pieces of the magic item.

  • The pieces of the magic item can be picked up by running through them.
  • Follow the stone path towards the entrance to the courtyard.
  • Pick up a piece (1) on the left side of the path near the gate.
  • Run through the woods following the river on the left side edge of the map (Image 3, bottom left).
  • Pick up a piece (2) at the end of the river next to the stone wall.
  • Follow the stone wall to the other end of the woods.
  • Pick up a piece (3) in the corner of the stone wall.
  • Run to the other side of the smaller stone wall by following it until it ends, then continue up to the corner of the wall.
  • Pick up a piece (4) in the corner.
  • Return to Fairy.
  • The correct answer to Fairy’s questions is always the longest option; the correct sequence is 2-1-1-2.
  • Return to Rosie in the common room.

Bullied

  • Return to Faewood and follow the stone path to the Wise Tree.
  • Return along the stone path to the courtyard. Harold can be found near the gate in the courtyard.
  • Talk to Tirlittan close to the classroom door in the courtyard.

Rollo

  • Find Rollo in the classroom.

Rosie’s gift

  • After talking to Rollo, go in the Faewood and follow the brown path to Troll’s cave.
  • Troll will ask you to find a book for him in his cave.

  • Press the spell button near the big yellow crystal near the large rock.
  • Move to the green section of the cave.

  • Step on the leftmost plate (1) and press the spell button.
  • Step on the middle plate (2) and press the spell button.
  • Step on the farthest plate (3) and press the spell button.
  • Step on the middle plate (4) again and press the spell button.
  • Follow the left side of the cave to the book and press the spell button to collect it.
  • Return to Troll.
  • Return to the courtyard. Rollo has moved next to Bernhart near the entrance to the common room.
  • Return to Faewood and follow the Will-o’-the-Wisps and speak with Fairy.
  • Continue following the flames until you reach the portal. Step into it.
  • Speak with Ursula, who is near the portal.
  • Walk up and to the left until the area with the Runes. Choose a Rune by pressing the spell button next to one of them.
  • Return to the courtyard and speak with Rollo next to the entrance to the common room.

Chapter 3

Total donkey

  • Speak with Bernhart and go to Fairy in Faewood.
  • Move to the classroom and speak with Robin, who can be found next to the cauldron and the desk.
  • The potion can be found in the raised section in the bottom left corner of the courtyard.
  • Press the spell button on top of the potion and step inside the portal.
  • Pass the Magic Isle:

  • Pass the Magic Isle either by completing all the obstacles or using the shortcut portals.
  • ! The skip portals appear at each checkpoint (Image 6, 1-6) if you fall off the isle 7 times at one checkpoint. Proceeding to the next checkpoint resets this counter.
  • Some platforms in the Magic Isle contain plates. Step on them and press the spell button in order to proceed.
  • The Magic Isle includes a jump mechanic that needs to be utilized in order to pass some obstacles (either space bar or the jump button depending on the selected controls and platform).

  • ! The player is transferred between the portals with the same numbers in images 7 & 8, e.g. 1 <-> 1.
  • ! If the player steps into the portals 25 times in total, the purple barriers leading to the blue portals disappear. Stepping into these blue portals skips this puzzle.
  • Move to the lower level and into the first portal (1), which leads you to the other portal with the same number.
  • Continue to the second portal (2), appearing at the other portal numbered (2). Continue following the numbers as shown in images 7 & 8 until the end.
  • After the sixth portal (6), move into the blue portal.
  • Walk over to the potion and pick it up by pressing the spell button.
  • Step into the green portal that appears.
  • Exit the Magic Isle and return to Robin in the classroom.
  • After talking to Robin, move to the cauldron that’s next to the table.
  • Once the potion is ready, deliver it to Bernhart who is standing next to the entrance to the common room in the courtyard.
  • Talk to the Wise Tree in Faewood.
  • Return to Bernhart.
  • Speak with Rollo who stands next to Bernhart.

Crystal wanted

  • After talking to Rollo, go to Troll’s cave in Faewood. Troll can be found on the left side of the entrance to the cave.
  • Go to the Rune grove through the portal in Faewood.
  • Speak with Troll in the Rune grove.
  • Find the Rune of Courage and suggest it to Troll.
  • After talking to Troll, return to Troll’s cave and pick up the crystal at the very end of the green section of the cave.
  • Return to the courtyard and speak with Rollo next to the entrance to the common room.

Stuck

  • After talking to Ursula, walk over to the well in the courtyard.
  • Speak with Tirlittan who is standing next to the entrance to the classroom.
  • Return to the well.

Where is Ursula?

  • Go to the Rune Grove through the portal in Faewood.
  • Speak with Troll next to the Rune stones.

Chapter 4

Crumbled stones

  • Speak with Troll and go to Fairy in Faewood.
  • Complete the quest Secret room.

Secret room

  • Go to the common room through the courtyard.
  • Find the key on the shelf near the upper corner and pick it up by pressing the magic button.
  • Enter the path to the classroom, but turn to the left before the door. Speak with the Magic Door at the end of the corridor.
  • Follow the path as shown in the image through the maze.
  • ! By pressing the spell button near the spell books you can see a different perspective of the area. Press the spell button again to return back to normal view.

  • Collect 4 scrolls by pressing the magic button in the secret room.
  • Once the four correct scrolls have been collected (see image 10), return to Fairy in Faewood.

  • Return to the Rune grove and fix the broken Rune stones by pressing the spell button while standing next to the broken stones.
  • Return to Troll.

Monster!

  • Speak with the Spectre.
  • Follow the Will-o’-the-Wisps back to the courtyard and speak with Ursula.
  • Speak with Robin, Tirlittan, Harold, Rosie, Bernhart, Rollo and Troll. They are located in the courtyard, the common room or the classroom.
  • Speak with Ursula at the magic cauldron in the courtyard towards the bottom center of the courtyard.
  • Congratulations, you have reached the end of the game!

Magis: Story of Rune Grove (Walkthrough)

Chapter 1

After the start sequence the different control types are shown. On mobile devices there are two different control types while on PC there are three. 

Control types

Afterwards the player will navigate into the magic circle in front of the dragon using one of the control types. The interaction button will be shown while within the magic circle and by pressing it, dialogue with the dragon can be started. 

The dialogue can be advanced with the ’Continue’ button. The player’s different dialogue reply options can be listened to by pressing each option’s listening button. The desired dialogue reply can be chosen by pressing on it. 

Reply selection

The big map is opened by pressing the small map at the top right corner of the screen. The small map has directional markers will show the direction to the current destination. On the big map the player’s current position (A) as well as the current destination (B) can be seen.

After the dialogue with the dragon the player will navigate to the broken portal, walk inside the magical ring in front of it and press the interaction button. After the following sequence the player will find the giant helper in the green part of Rune Grove, walk into the magical ring in front of him and press the interaction button.  

Magic circle

After the dialogue, the helper will fall to the ground, allowing the player to walk onto the isle, where they will press the interaction button while in the light beam’s magic circle. 

Upon arriving to the Magic arena, the player will talk to the helper by pressing the interaction button while in the magic circle. After the dialogue, the path to two puzzles opens. The first puzzle is located to the right of the helper, and the other to the left. The first puzzle is activated by pressing the interaction button while standing on top of the blue tile located inside the stone wall circle. 

Helpful Ghost

Often, a character named Ghost can be found in the vicinity of the puzzle. By speaking to them they will give a hint for the puzzle. To do this, press the interaction button while within the magic circle surrounding Ghost. 

Memory game  

This puzzle is a memory game, where each symbol must be paired up. By pressing the grey tiles it is revealed which symbol is under them. After revealing two symbols, they are hidden again if they were not a pair, or marked as found if they were a pair. Once all pairs have been found, the puzzle is complete and now the player can navigate to the second puzzle which is located to the left of the helper. 

Memory game

Tile puzzle 

In the second puzzle, each grey tile must be stepped on once so its colour changes. If any tile is stepped on once, the puzzle will return the player back to the start. The player must find a path that lets them step on all of the tiles once. Once that has been done, the path to the middle part opens up, and the player can finish the puzzle by pressing the interaction button while standing on the blue tile in the middle.

Rotating platforms 

Once both puzzles have been completed, in the middle of the Magic arena, the path-blocking ice statues will melt and allow the player to start the third puzzle. In this puzzle, stepping onto the blue tile and holding the interaction button down the platforms can be rotated into the correct position. Upon letting go of the interaction button, if the platform is close enough to the correct position, it will lock into place and allow the player to walk onto it. The same is repeated on the other platforms, until the player can proceed to the final puzzle.

Flashing runes  

After solving the third puzzle, the player will navigate to the fourth and final puzzle. The puzzle is activated by pressing the interaction button within the magic circle. In the puzzle, an amount of runes will flash for a time and once the flashing is finished, the player must select the runes that were flashing. This must be repeated three times, after which the puzzle is completed. The player will return to the helper at the start of the arena and go through a dialogue with them.

After the dialogue the player will walk into the magic circle in front of the beam of light that brought them to the arena initially, and by pressing the interaction button return back to Rune Grove. Once there, the player will return to the dragon and talk to her. After the dialogue with Drusilla, the previously broken portal is not functional and the player will navigate to it, activate it by pressing the interaction button while within the magic circle and then walk into the portal. 

This is where the first chapter ends. The player can then either continue on to the next chapter, or close the game in the end-of-chapter view. 

Chapter 2

After arriving in Shroomwood, the player will navigate to Malina and talk to her. After the dialogue the player will need to solve the puzzle in the middle of the area. 

Shroom tunnels 
In this puzzle the player must guide the frightful helper into a dead end, to allow them to have a dialogue with the helper. The shroom tunnels are numbered and the helper should be guided as follows: 2 -> 3 -> 5. The player needs to approach the helper in a way that makes the helper run into the aforementioned tunnels. In order to get them to go into tunnel number 5, the player will go through tunnel number 4 themselves in order to exit from tunnel number 6. After the dialogue with the helper, the puzzle can be exited by going through the shroom tunnel.

Mountain wall  

Next the player will navigate to the rightmost side of Shroomwood, which is accessible through a shroom tunnel on the right edge of the middle area. The tunnel must first be activated with the interaction button, after which pressing it again lets the player go through it. The next puzzle is activated by pressing the interaction button in front of the boulder with a magic seal on it. 

Mountain wall

In this puzzle one of the runes flashes, after which the runes swap places for a time. Once they stop moving, the player must select the rune that was flashing initially. The player will solve the same puzzle in order to open the way to the shroom towers. At the foot of the towers, the player can activate them by pressing the interaction button. Doing so activates the mycelium that moves a boulder that is blocking the way to the helper. By activating both shroom towers, the way to the helper opens fully and the player can navigate to them and have a dialogue with them. After the dialogue the player will return to Malina by activating one more shroom tunnel that can be found to the left of the helper. 

Pocket dimension  

Malina opens the path to the Pocket dimension, and after a dialogue with her the player will move there using the tower portal by pressing the interaction button near it. In the Pocket dimension the player will talk to the Evil spirit and the next puzzle begins. 

Duel  

In this puzzle the Evil spirit will activate three runes at a time and afterwards in the view that opens, the player will choose these runes upside down in order to nullify the spirit’s magic. When this has been done three times, the Evil spirit is expelled and Petsy will open the path forward. Once the puzzle ends the player will navigate to Petsy and have a dialogue with them. 

Duel

During Petsy’s dialogue it will be possible to choose a pet form by cycling through them with the arrow looking buttons and confirming the selection with the interaction button. After the whole dialogue with Petsy, they will move to the tower. The player will enter the tower and start the breathing exercise by pressing the interaction button near the fireplace. In the breathing exercise the interaction button is held down as the player breathes in, and released as the player breathes out. This is continued until the exit button appears in the lower left corner of the screen.

After the exercise the rune stone sprout can be found in the floor above, which can be picked up by pressing the interaction button while inside the magic circle. Once it has been picked up, the player will exit the Pocket dimension using the tower portal back at the beginning. In Shroomwood, the player will have a dialogue with Malina before walking to the portal, activating it by pressing the interaction button and walking inside it. Once the chapter has ended the player can either move on to the next chapter or close the game. 

Chapter 3

The third chapter begins with a dialogue with Cryssie. After the dialogue the player will move further inside the Crystal cave, until a dialogue is had with the creature that is inside the rock tower that is blocking the way. This begins the first puzzle. 

Creatures’ riddles 

In this puzzle the creatures give a hint of an item that they want the player to bring to them. The hints and corresponding correct items are as follows: 

I want to hear the sound of the sea. – Conch 

I want something that will illuminate the whole cave. – Candle 

I want to travel with the help of words. – Book 

I want to walk without touching the floor. – Socks 

I want to remember the scent of nature. – Flower 

I want to warm up my tummy. – Soup 

Once the player has brought the correct item to three creatures, the way through becomes clear. Then the player will continue onwards in the cave and have a dialogue with Troll. After the dialogue the player is transported into the Cavity.

In the Cavity, after the dialogue, the player will press the interaction button next to the button stone which starts the introduction of the next puzzle.

After the introduction the water level lowers enough for the player to be able to walk to the first section of the puzzle. In this puzzle, each mirror that is does not have spider webs attached to it can be activated to open a view that allows the player to set the mirror’s position. The mirror’s position is selected by dropping a coloured crystal into the empty slot. The crystals’ colours correspond to the coloured arrows below the mirror. The crystal is placed into the slot by either pressing on the desired crystal, then pressing on the empty slot, or by pressing down, holding down and dragging the crystal over the empty slot and then letting go. Then the view can be closed and the beam of light activated by pressing the interaction button. 

Setting the mirror positions

The goal of the puzzle is to set the mirrors in a way that allows the beam of light to hit each of the mirrors before reaching the goal mirror. The goal mirror is the one whose position cannot be moved, has no coloured arrows under it and has spider webs attached to it. 

The puzzle has three different sections and upon finishing one, the water level will be adjusted to allow passage to the next section. Once all sections have been completed, the player will navigate to the button stone and activate it by pressing the interaction button. Afterwards, the player can walk to the helper and begin a dialogue with them. 

After the dialogue the player can continue onwards in the Cavity and return to Crystal cave through the black crevasse. Now, in Crystal cave, the player must create a path across the pillars. Troll will activate the first bridge to let the player over onto the second pillar. Once on it, the player will step onto the magic tile and activate the bridge to let Troll over as well. Then the player will activate the second magic tile to allow Troll to move onto the final pillar, and then walk over once Troll activates the bridge on his end. Finally the rune stone sprout is collected by pressing the interaction button while within the magic circle. After the chapter is finished, the player can either move on to the next chapter or close the game. 

Chapter 4

The fourth chapter begins in the Dungeon and first the player will go have a dialogue with Troll, who is in the glass terrarium. Troll will guide the player to the first puzzle. In this puzzle the player will navigate through the corridors that have the key to free Troll from the terrarium at the end. There are portals on the corridors, and if the player comes into contact with them, they will be transported to the beginning of that corridor, so the player must be careful with their movement. There are three corridors in total. 

Portal

At the end of the last corridor the key can be picked up by pressing the interaction button and going through the blue portal that appears will take the player back to the terrarium, which can be opened by pressing the interaction button while within the magic circle. Afterwards the player will have a dialogue with Troll before he moves into the Magic dimension through a portal. The player will then follow Troll through the portal. 

Magic dimension  

First the player will have a dialogue with Troll which can be triggered by walking on the entry platform. After the dialogue the player can choose in which order they will solve the following three puzzles. The first puzzle can be found on the left, the second at the top of the spiral staircase and the third puzzle can be found on the right. The way forward to Wizard will only be cleared once all three puzzles have been solved.

Magic balls  

The first puzzle is accessible to the left, where standing on the blue sigil and pressing the interaction button will open the way to the leaning wall. While on the wall, the player will avoid the magic balls on their way to the next blue sigil. Once it is reached, pressing the interaction button will open the way to the next sigil. If the player stays in motion at all times, the magic balls become easier to dodge. Additionally, while standing on top of the sigils the magic balls will have no effect. Once three sigils have been activated, the way to the crystal becomes clear. The crystal can be destroyed by pressing the interaction button while within the magic circle by the crystal. The way back is then opened and it will take the player back to Troll in the beginning of the area.

Daylight  

In the second puzzle, on the upper level, the player will talk to Ghost who will give a hint about the puzzle. Behind Ghost there are six different statues, each of which also having a grey tile in front of them. While standing on these tiles, pressing the interaction button toggles a light on or off for the statue. The player must activate the lights for each statue according to the hints.

Ghost – on. 

Once the puzzle is completed, the way to the crystal is cleared and it can be destroyed by pressing the interaction button while next to it within the magic circle. The player can then return back to the start through the blue portal that opens right after. 

Rotating platforms 

In the third puzzle, located to the right of Troll, the goal is to create a path to the crystal using the platforms that have bridges connected to them. On top of the red tile the interaction button will reset the platforms back into starting positions. The other three blue tiles will each rotate two platforms at a time while the player stands on one of the tiles and holds the interaction button down. 

Control tiles

The camera view will change as the platforms are being rotated, which will help see which platforms are moving and how the bridges are aligned. When the path to the crystal has been successfully created, the player will navigate to it and destroy it by pressing the interaction button. Afterwards the blue portal will let the player return back to Troll.

When all three puzzles have been solved, the corridor leading to Wizard will become clear. The player will start a dialogue with him after walking to the end of the corridor by pressing the interaction button. After the dialogue the final puzzle begins. In this puzzle the player will hold the interaction button down, until Wizard’s magic comes back into effect. Once that happens, the player will let the button go. The player can continue holding the button again once the Wizard’s magic dwindles. This alternation is continued until finally Wizard is cast into the portal. If the puzzle is unsuccessful, Wizard will cast the player back to the beginning of the area and the player will then have to walk back to Wizard and try again. Once the puzzle is completed, a dialogue is had with Troll and afterwards the player will walk into the portal that takes them back to Rune Grove. 

When Wizard temporarily dispels the mirror’s magic, the button must be let go.

After the dialogue in Rune Grove the player will be able to select a rune, which can be done by pressing the rune. This selection is then confirmed by pressing the interaction button.

After the final dialogue the player will navigate back to the home portal, activate it by pressing the interaction button while within the magic circle, and then walk into it. After the chapter ends the game is finished.

PC starter guide

Game does not work in browser

1. Check if your browser is supporting WebGL and/or get WebGL

Go to 

https://get.webgl.org

You should see a spinning cube.

2. Your browser supports WebGL, but you still cannot play a game.

It is possible, that WebGL is disabled. You may have to manually enable it.

Enabling WebGL

If your browser supports WebGL, follow these instructions to enable it:

Chrome

  • Go to chrome://settings
  • Click the + Show advanced settings button
  • In the System section, ensure the Use hardware acceleration when available checkbox is checked (you’ll need to relaunch Chrome for any changes to take effect)

Then inspect the status of WebGL:

  • Go to chrome://gpu
  • Inspect the WebGL item in the Graphics Feature Status list. The status will be one of the following:
    • Hardware accelerated — WebGL is enabled and hardware-accelerated (running on the graphics card).
    • Software only, hardware acceleration unavailable — WebGL is enabled, but running in software.
    • Unavailable — WebGL is not available in hardware or software.

If the status is not “Hardware accelerated”, then the Problems Detected list (below the the Graphics Feature Status list) may explain why hardware acceleration is unavailable. Please consult this list before contacting our support team. If you have a display driver older than 2010, it may be the cause of the issue. Please update your display drivers and then go back to chrome://gpu again to look for problems.

Please ensure you are not using an extension that may be disabling WebGL.

Firefox

First, enable WebGL:

  • Go to about:config
  • Search for webgl.disabled
  • Ensure that its value is false (any changes take effect immediately without relaunching Firefox)

Then inspect the status of WebGL:

  • Go to about:support
  • Inspect the WebGL Renderer row in the Graphics table:
    • If the status contains a graphics card manufacturer, model and driver (eg: “NVIDIA Corporation — NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M OpenGL Engine”), then WebGL is enabled.
    • If the status is something like “Blocked for your graphics card because of unresolved driver issues” or “Blocked for your graphics driver version”, then your graphics card/driver is blacklisted.

Opera

Enable hardware acceleration:

  • Go to about:config
  • On the left hand menu, click “Browser”
  • Click the Show advanced settings checkbox
  • In the System section, ensure the Use hardware acceleration when available checkbox is checked (you’ll need to relaunch Opera for any changes to take effect)

Safari

  • Go to Safari’s Preferences
  • Select the Advanced tab
  • Ensure that the Show Develop menu in menu bar checkbox is checked
  • In Safari’s Develop menu, ensure that Enable WebGL is checked

3. WebGL is enabled, but you still cannot play the game.

  1.  please check if any third party plugins  (ex. AdBlock or Ghostery) are blocking the game.
  2. It is possible that the browser settings are blocking the game. To solve this problem:

Chrome

In the address bar, type 

chrome://flags/, and press Enter.

Scroll to Disable WebGL – Enabling this option prevents web applications from accessing the WebGL API, and click Enable:

Scroll to Disable WebGL – Enabling this option prevents web applications from accessing the WebGL API, and click Enable:

Click Relaunch Now. Google Chrome will restart and your new settings will be applied.

Firefox

write this in the browser tab:

About:config and press Enter

find privacy_file_unique_origin and set bool to false.
